 | | When Guess Who’s Coming to Dinner came out in 1967, it definitely must have ruffled a few feathers. Joey Drayton (Katharine Houghton), the daughter of a liberal newspaperman (Spencer Tracy), returns from a trip to Hawaii with a big surprise –- she’s getting married. The biggest surprise is that her fiancé – Doctor John Prentice (Sidney Portier) -– is black. The film deals with the Prentice and Drayton families’ reactions –- and their objections -– as they meet for the first time.
Guess Who’s Coming to Dinner is a fantastic movie about love. It’s about all love –- not just that between races. It explores the challenges each couple faces –- and what, in the end, really matters.

As long as you can overlook the occasional 60s cheesiness of this movie, I definitely recommend this film. Oh, yes... and see it with someone you love...
