David Martin is a gifted young artist with a voice smooth as silk and an extremely impressive range. He wrote every song on this self-produced debut album and, though there’s plenty of strong musicianship throughout, the vocals are definitely the highlight here.
On the first part of this disc there are plenty of ballads which, in many cases, would have me running. However, lyrics here are uniquely poetic. The mix is squeaky clean and the sound is fresh.
It opens with the title track, “Something in Your Eyes.” This is a sweet and melodic tune. “Stand” is upbeat, catchy and great for dancing. “Strong Enough” has some wonderful harmonies. And it closes with my favorite - “To You.” This one rocks nice and hard with a great beat, plenty of rhythm and some delightful guitar work.
So if you’re in the mood to kick back and check out some fine new talent, “Something in Your Eyes” will be just what the doctor ordered. I’m certain that there will be more great work in store for us from this talented artist.
