If you’ve enjoyed other standup comedy performances from Comedy Central, then you’ll love every minute of Jim Gaffigan’s latest DVD, King Baby. Like his previous bout of hilarity from the Beyond the Pale Tour, Gaffigan delivers once again with all-new material in his tell-it-like-it-is comedic style, discussing various aspects of modern life from religion to parenthood, hammocks, moving sidewalks, and more.

Fans will continue to appreciate his stream of consciousness approach to storytelling, punched up with a slew of self-deprecating internal monologues. Gaffigan’s conversational style is as engaging as ever, and his jokes are completely relatable. Whether he’s discussing forms of laziness or a shared love of all things bacon, it’ll make you wonder for a second if he’s been stalking you for material. It is a recipe for sheer entertainment—the kind that can only be described as “Make You Laugh So Hard That You Pull a Muscle” entertainment. Gaffigan’s performance will surely leave you screaming for an encore (though your neighbors may overhear and look at you funny for a while).

While the main content of the DVD is full of flavor, about half of the extras are on the bland side. Though they’re still amusing, a lot of the comedy bits (namely the commercial spots and the British interview) recycle the same set up and deliver the same punch lines. It’s like trying to eat a whole chocolate cake by yourself: you’ll get tired of it by the third slice and call it a day. There are some bits that make the extras more satisfying, particularly the XM/Sirius interview for some actual commentary by Gaffigan, the Pale Force cartoons, and Our Massive Planet. All around, Gaffigan fans will surely embrace this DVD as warmly as the first and give homage to this Lord of Lazy and King of Comedy.
