Some people think that the holiday season should always be spent in the snow. Others would rather spend the holidays somewhere warm. So The Holiday Honeymoon Switch by Julia McKay splits the holiday coziness in half—following one friend to a winter wonderland and the other to a tropical paradise.

The story finds best friends Holly Beech and Ivy Casey setting out on unexpected vacations after the unthinkable happens. On the night before Holly’s holiday wedding, her fiancé, Matt, tells her he’s in love with someone else. Instead of letting her non-refundable Hawaiian honeymoon go to waste, Holly decides to send Ivy, who was about to leave on her annual artist’s holiday—and trade it for Ivy’s remote eco-cabin. When Matt shows up in Hawaii with his new girlfriend, Ivy gets the help of a handsome bartender—while Holly reconnects with a high school rival.

As they go their separate ways for the holidays, planning to meet up again for New Year’s Eve, these two long-time friends have very specific plans for their vacations. Smart and stable Ivy wants to escape the distractions of her big city life—and her sensible career in branding—to create a year’s worth of art. Pragmatic Holly needs some time alone to process this unexpected twist in her carefully planned life. But, of course, neither trip goes as planned.

The two separate but related love stories in two very different settings provide the perfect holiday rom-com for every taste—whether you prefer a snowy winter setting or the warmth and sunshine of a tropical getaway. And though the ups and downs and misunderstandings of both stories are perfectly predictable, they’re also comfortable and cozy. From the moment that Aiden shows up to help Holly figure out how to work the wood-burning stove—and Oliver mixes up Ivy’s drink in the hotel bar—it’s clear where both of these stories are going (even if the two friends believe otherwise). Though both holiday romances may seem a little fluffy and unrealistic, they also provide just the right amount of holiday charm.

Whether your ideal holiday vacation takes place in the snowy wilderness or on a tropical island, The Holiday Honeymoon Switch will transport you to a Christmas getaway that’s filled with old friends and new loves. It’s a fluffy but charming double romance that’s just what you need to help you unwind at the end of another busy day.
