This edition of Stolen from the Headlines concerns the latest sheep rustling news from England, a woman who scared the daylights out of some burglars with a little something she keeps at her bedside, a man who called 911 to report his unfriendly neighbors, and a guy who stole a backhoe to take a Sunday drive.
It Happened in Wool

English police officials are asking any witnesses to come forward in the theft of 160 sheep from a field near the village of Wool.
“The thieves would have needed a good understanding of livestock and used a large vehicle, possibly a six or eight wheeler type lorry, to move the sheep,” police Constable Adam Taylor said. “All the sheep had color markings and were electronically tagged. If anyone has been offered sheep in unusual circumstances or for very low prices please contact the police on 101.”

A California woman who awoke to find burglars trying to steal the watch from her wrist said she scared them off with her bedside tomahawk.
Robin Irvine of Hemet, a tomahawk-throwing champion, said she woke up terrified Saturday morning when she felt someone attempting to take her watch off of her wrist, KABC-TV, Los Angeles, reported. Irvine said she grabbed a tomahawk she keeps by her bed and the weapon frightened the two men into fleeing.
Police said one of the men, Nicholas Ulloa, 22, was found hiding in a nearby bush and arrested on a first-degree burglary charge.
The other suspect, still on the loose, was last seen leaping tall buildings and looking over his shoulder for flying tomahawks.

Florida police arrested a man for misuse of 911 when he allegedly called the emergency number to complain his neighbors would not drink with him.
“The complainant, James Collins, stated that his neighbors were being mean and would not drink with him,” a report states. An officer “explained to James about misusing 911.” However, Collins, who police said was celebrating his 56th birthday on the day of the incident, called 911 again about 30 minutes later in regard to his neighbors “not drinking with him.” Collins was arrested on charges of disorderly intoxication and misuse of 911.
In a jailhouse interview Collins said he had left a message for Bobby Vinton, the 60’s pop singer. “He’s the one that does those lonely guy songs—I’ll bet he’ll have a drink with me .”
So far, he says, The Polish Prince has not returned his call.

A Pennsylvania man allegedly stole a $125,000 backhoe from a Chester County construction site on Sunday and drove it all the way to Philadelphia, which probably took 2 ½ hours.
William Michael Pusey, 33, took major roads during the 30-mile trek to Philadelphia. “He drove up Route 202 to I-76 and drove I-76 down to Route 1,” said Embreeville Trooper Wesley P. Foster.
Foster wasn’t sure what roads Pusey took after leaving Route 1, but he was positive the backhoe ended up at a Philly scrap yard. Despite taking it to a scrap yard, Pusey wasn’t planning on selling the backhoe for scrap metal. “He already had a buyer lined up for it,” Foster said. “He had heard someone was looking for one.”
