Blade is a fantastic action/thriller — designed to keep you captured for the duration of the film. Originally, it was a comic strip, but it was so successful that it was turned into a blockbuster movie.
The story outline is focused on the vampire who bit Blade’s mother during her pregnancy. She then gives birth to Eric (played by Wesley Snipes) who later becomes the legendary Blade. Not knowing she gave her son all the vampire attributes and none of their weaknesses, Blade’s mother dies, leaving him to fend for himself. Blade then grows up to hunt the vampire who bit his mother.
This film has everything that you could ask for in an action/thriller. It has plenty of blood, guts, and gore, a twisted, disturbed bad guy, moments of humour, but most importantly, a very good story line with plenty of twists. The action is at a constant throughout this film, and it will have you on the edge of your seat for the entire two hours of showing. The fights are fantastic. The stunts are breathtaking. The special effects are completely mind-blowing. The film literally comes to life — or should I say comes from the dead — as soon as Snipes enters. It’s his best action film roll — and he really does live up to that kung fu, samurai sword-swinging, silver bullet-shooting action hero.
If you’re after something with moves from The Matrix and story plots along the lines of Interview with a Vampire, Blade is the film for you.
This film seriously makes Buffy look like kidsplay…
