The holidays are upon us again. Dad is in the basement swearing at the tangled string of lights that won’t work. Mom is burning cookies because Grandma is on the phone trying to figure out exactly what Billy wants for Christmas. The television is littered with Christmas compilation albums. One such compilation album found only in stores is Louis Armstrong and Friends with What A Wonderful Christmas.
This is a great, fun jazz album. It is loaded with classic songs sung by legends like Louis Armstrong, Dinah Washington, Mel Torme, and Eartha Kitt. This is music to help you wrap presents, throw a great dinner party with old friends, sipping wine and dancing with your significant other.
If you’re down about the holidays, listen to track seven, “Cool Yule.” There’s nothing like hearing the raspy, happy voice of Louis Armstrong to put you into a festive mood. Follow it up with “Zat You Santa Claus,” and you’ll be hooked.
The only bad thing about the CD is that it only has 14 songs. I highly recommend this CD for your holiday collection. It has everything a jazz loving, toe tapping, festive person could ever want in their disc player.
