This disc is all vocals, guitar and keys. It is tender and beautiful in its simplicity. The vocals are sublime and the musicianship is excellent.
The disc consists of six very sweet ballads. The lyrics are charming. My favorite here is the opening track, “Try Too Hard,” a catchy tune with some fine guitar stylings.
According to his bio, Geiger is a 16-year-old self-taught musician and songwriter who began composing music at the age of eight. Hailed by BellaOnline as “America’s next teen heartthrob,” Geiger was discovered by producer Billy Mann after his performance as a finalist on VH1’s “In Search of the New Partridge Family.” This past summer he toured with Hilary Duff.
Geiger’s style is distinct; his vocals are comparable to a cross between Michael Stipe and Elvis Costello. The overall theme of this, Geiger’s second CD, is a bit heavy on the love and heartbreak for my palate. Nonetheless, it is a heartfelt and passionate work, packed with talent and amazing potential.
