This self-titled debut by this extremely talented young artist is guaranteed to have your feet tapping and your fingers snapping. Yet it has a soft side that makes it a perfect listen for a slow dance in front of a crackling fire on Valentine’s Day (if you’re into that kind of thing).
The mix is clean as a whistle, the bass line is a powerful thundering heartbeat and the vocals absolutely shine. The lyrics are sweet, romantic and remarkably wholesome for the genre. Heck, they’ll even have you sipping margaritas in the Bahamas. And in the middle of February in Boston, I’ll gladly go for that ride.
“Run It,” featuring Juelz Santana is upbeat and catchy. The disc also includes a gorgeous remix of this track featuring Bow Wow and Jermaine Dupri. “Yo (Excuse Me Miss)” is delightfully charismatic. Honestly, there isn’t a bad track here.
This is one of the finest pieces of work I’ve heard in a while. This may be his first album, but I’m certain that there will be a lot more great stuff look forward to. Chris Brown is definitely going places.
