I’ve learned that I have to be in the right mood to listen to Celine Dion’s music. It’s mega-romantic and over-the-top sappy—and that isn’t something that I get into often. And, incidentally, I would never ever force my boyfriend to go to a Celine Dion concert. After all, he’s a tough
soldier, and I could never subject him to such girly torture. Come on, girls, how can you be so brutal to the man you love? Why do you think Kate Hudson’s character dragged Matthew McConaughey’s character to one of Celine’s concerts in How to Lose a Guy in Ten Days?
But, oh, that voice! It’s so powerful and inspirational that it’ll bring tears to your eyes. Celine Dion definitely has one of the most talented voices in the business, and listeners are treated to some of her best music on My Love, a collection of her most essential love and inspirational songs.
Though I’m not crazy about such songs as “Beauty and the Beast,” “My Love,” or “All By Myself,” I love “The Power of Love,” “Because You Loved Me,” and “My Heart Will Go On” (yes, the super-sappy song from the movie Titanic). But my absolute favorite song on the album is “Taking Chances.” After all, what kind of life would you have if you never took chances, especially where love is concerned?
I also prefer my music with more of a beat, so I always like it when she picks it up in songs like “I Drove All Night” and “That’s the Way It Is.”
Celine Dion’s music isn’t for everyone, but if you’re a fan, you definitely do not want to pass up this collection of her most passionate hits. I also recommend it for those who (like me) only listen to her music when the mood strikes—because her My Love: Essential Collection is sure to include many of your favorites, which you’ll want to listen to again and again.
