Holly Henrikson needs to deliver flowers to a wedding by ten a.m. to save her business, but the weather and fate have other ideas. While on the way, she skids on a patch of ice and lands in a ditch—then someone starts shooting at her. She heads into the wilds of Montana and prays she doesn’t freeze to death before she gets to safety.
Ex-military operative Colin Denton, has been undercover for weeks, trying to take down an arms deal, but something goes wrong when he finds a pretty florist named Holly Henrikson roaming around in the woods on a freezing cold night. Someone wants her dead, and Colin needs to find out why, and keep her out of harm’s way until the dealers are apprehended. Easier said than done.
Nightfall is one of those great Amazon.com freebie finds you can get on Kindle by bestselling author, Laura Griffin. At just fifty pages, Nightfall packs a powerful punch from the characterization to the action and suspense.
Holly may be your typical, down-on-her-luck heroine, but she has a few surprises up her sleeves, which makes her a not-so-ordinary character. She’s likable and a woman worthy of your attention. Colin is confident, but not cocky, and very tender and patient with Holly after her ordeal in the woods. He’s rational and practical, but not to the point of being unemotional like ex-military men tend to be—a big plus for a hero in my book.
Nightfall draws you in right from the beginning and causes you to lose track of time as you immerse yourself in the deeply drawn characters and non-stop excitement. You might want to keep one eye on the clock with this one, or you’ll risk returning late from lunch, but it’s so worth it.
