Crazy Cupid Love is a quirky romantic fantasy with a mythological twist, following this troubled Cupid as she deals with her ailing dad, her skeptical mother, their failing business, a sleazy rival, and her long-buried feelings for her long-lost friend.
Eliza is lovably bumbling—an extremely powerful Cupid whose exceptional powers have gotten her into all kinds of trouble since she was just a kid. For that reason, she’s insecure and awkward, afraid of getting too close to people because she might accidentally enchant someone—like that friendly old guy at the store. And after years surrounded by enchantments, she’s understandably cynical about love that’s actually real instead of enchanted—which is why she doesn’t trust Jake’s feelings for her any more than she trusts her feelings for him.
But, of course, this wouldn’t be Valentine’s chick lit without plenty of sparks and a whole lot of spice—and this one features some briefly explicit moments balanced with the drama and humor. Eliza’s cases are far from normal—from a woman who’s looking for love but ends up losing her beloved pet pig to a grocery store manager who’s having some trouble with her Mandroid. The story sometimes feels a bit random and disjointed, but chick lit fans will enjoy following along as Eliza’s humorous experiences lead to something much more dangerous and sinister.
If you’re looking for a February read that’s both silly and steamy, Crazy Cupid Love is a light and amusing romantic fantasy—a fun-filled twist on the same old chick lit.
