Read Time:2 Minute, 11 Second
Life is full of the kinds of fleeting moments and split-second decisions that can change everything for the lives of everyone involved. And the Netflix original movie Love. Wedding. Repeat explores how a beautiful wedding day can have a variety of different outcomes—all dependent on a slight twist of fate.
Love. Wedding. Repeat tempts fate with Sam Claflin’s Jack, who’s traveled to Italy for his sister’s wedding. Jack has always been the kind of guy who takes care of everyone else’s needs before his own, so when the lovely bride, Hayley (Eleanor Tomlinson), pulls him aside to ask for help with coked-up Marc (Jack Farthing), who’s determined to make a mess of everything, Jack does what he can to fix the situation. But a bunch of mischievous kids get in the way of his plans—and it’s anybody’s guess whether the day will end in delight…or disaster.
Really, though, Jack’s day seems destined for disaster from the start. The wedding may take place in a gorgeous Italian setting—complete with stunning architecture and lush, serene gardens—but the event is anything but serene. The Man of Honor, Bryan (Joel Fry), is notoriously unreliable—and he’s more focused on getting the attention of the famous filmmaker who will be attending the wedding than his role in the ceremony. Meanwhile, despite being the bride’s brother, Jack is stuck at the “English table” with a motley group of misfits—which includes the woman of Jack’s dreams, Dina (Olivia Munn), chatty, kilt-wearing Sidney (Tim Key), and Jack’s spoiled ex, Amanda (Freida Pinto), who’s brought her jealous boyfriend, Chaz (Allan Mustafa). It’s a mess from the start—even without the prospect of Marc destroying Hayley’s wedding day. And it leads to plenty of laugh-out-loud wedding-day awkwardness and mishaps.
Admittedly, the pieces don’t all come together as well as they could. Some of the characters are more maddening than entertaining, and their comedic moments miss the mark. At the same time, more focus could have been placed on the randomness of chance—and the Groundhog Day-like aspects of the story. But the over-the-top wedding comedy will still provide plenty of laughs.
If you’re suffering from cabin fever, if you dream of traveling to the Italian countryside, or if you’re just in the mood for some laughs and a little bit of romance—this wedding-day rom-com makes a worthwhile pick for a Friday night at home.

Kristin Dreyer Kramer has been writing in some form or another (usually when she was supposed to be doing something else) since the ripe old age of ten—when she, her cousin, and their two Cabbage Patch Dolls formed the Poo Authors’ Club. After a short career in advertising, Kristin got sick of always saying nice things about stuff that didn’t deserve it—so now she spends her days criticizing things, and she’s much happier for it.
Since creating NightsAndWeekends.com in February of 2002, Kristin has spent her life surrounded by piles and piles of books and movies—so many that her office has become a kind of entertainment obstacle course.
As if her writing and editing responsibilities for N&W.com weren’t enough to keep her out of trouble, Kristin also hosts a number of weekly radio shows: Reel Discovery, Shelf Discovery, and On the Marquee.
