There’s just something about Jamiroquai – something that makes you want – no, need – to get up and dance. Even if these guys were singing about death and destruction, I’d still find myself dancing around the room with a silly disco-grin on my face as the band played on.
Synkronized is the Brit band’s follow-up to their 1996 Travelling without Moving – which attracted attention from both the music industry and listeners (like me). And it didn’t take long after Synkronized’s release for me to realize that it was yet another disc-o-fun. It gives Jamiroquai fans (old and new) every bit of funky disco beat they need to make it through the day. Sure, it’s more of the same, but what’s wrong with that? Nobody else can do what Jamiroquai does – so why would they want to change?
I love the retro-kitschiness of this album. “Falling” is an “I love you, but I don’t think you love me” song that always reminds me of the theme song to some 70s TV show (and that’s not a bad thing).
This is an excellent all-occasion album. It’ll wake you up, get you moving, energize you, and make you smile – no matter how bad your day’s been. I dare you to listen to Synkronized without dancing.
