Distorted screams rip through your speakers on the song “Skunk.” What a welcome to Now I Got Worry by The Jon Spencer Blues Explosion. This is a CD laced with blues riffs, a punk vibe, rockabilly vocals, and drum beats that rip open a big can of whoop-ass!
The punk feel comes alive in the song “Identify.” It is a short song with classic punk flowing chants. In fact, the whole album is relatively short in respects that it contains 18 tracks.
Song number four brings in an organ and cranks out some funked-up bass lines. I won’t write the title of the song due to its unequivocal use of a certain F-word. I find it rather refreshing and humorous. If you have children who need to learn the better use of specific tough playground words, then ride the “F” wave on this song.
“2 Kinds A Love” shifts gears and goes to a strong rockin’ dance song. It’s fast and heavy – no amount of Ritalin is going to control this song (or any of the songs on the disc).
Now I Got Worry is a blues-feeling album shoved into a blender of many different elements of music. The musicians are phenomenal. Each instrument is tied tightly together. If one piece drops out, the feeling of the music would be lost, and the song would be worthless. From the first note of the CD to the last, you will be taken on a ride that never goes down until the end. Now that’s music!
