Chow Yun-Fat and Seann
William Scott share screen time in this martial-arts comedy/action
film.
Yun-Fat plays the monk protector of an ancient scroll that offers
the bearer the key to unlimited power. The problem is that Yun-Fat is getting older, and
he’s ready to find his successor. When Scott’s street punk character helps him to avoid
capture, the monk thinks he’s found his successor.
The film had some cool
special effects, but as a whole the movie wasn’t as good as the trailers built it up to
be. If you’re a fan of Chow Yun-Fat or Seann William Scott, then the movie is worth the
viewing just to support their careers. Otherwise, you can wait for it to come to
cable.
Extras that can be found on the DVD include deleted scenes,
alternate ending, “The Tao of Monk,” which is a five-part featurette, a making-of
featurette, and commentary.
