In today’s rock music, it’s hard to find a band that stands out from the crowd—that one band you would rush out to the nearest music or online store to grab a copy of their first release. Hot Chelle Rae is such a band with their Lovesick Electric debut.
With electrified dance tunes and power ballads, Hot Chelle Rae grabs your attention and makes your body get up and move right from the beginning with “I Like to Dance” and once again with “Say (Half Past Nine)”. Then they pour into a soulful ballad with “Bleed” a song about bleeding words onto paper because it’s the only way he can get his emotions across. “Never Have I Ever” gets you moving again even if you’re just bouncing in your chair, and bobbing your head, as you listen.
My favorite song off my five-track album sampler is “The Distance”. Anyone who has been (or is) in a long-distance relationship will relate to this song. Hot Chelle Rae hits the nail on the head when they sing about time and space becoming the enemy. I’ve listened to this song over and over since receiving my sample copy of Lovesick Electric.
To say I’m impressed with this new band is putting it lightly—the word “wow” comes to mind, also. Fast-paced and energetic, these young men deliver music with a cutting edge of emotion and fun. If these five songs are any indication of what the rest of the CD might sound like, it’s a guaranteed must-buy item, and one I’d be willing to take a chance on.
Now if you’ll excuse me, I’m heading out to find the complete Lovesick Electric album to add to my rock collection—I have a feeling I’ll be collecting future albums by Hot Chelle Rae also.
